About Us
Yellow Ducks Nursery & Preschool is a term-time only setting, based within the grounds of London Colney Primary School.
We are open for 38 weeks each year, following the local school term dates.
Our nursery day runs from 8:30am to 3:30pm, providing flexible options to suit your child and family’s needs.
We welcome children from 2 years old, offering a caring and stimulating environment where every child can learn, play, and grow at their own pace.

Parent Partnership
At Yellow Ducks, we believe that strong partnerships with parents and carers are essential in supporting each child’s learning and wellbeing.
We value open communication, trust, and shared involvement in each child’s early years journey.
Ovivio
We use Ovivio, a secure nursery
app, to keep you informed with
important updates, announcements,
invoices, daily reports and photos of your child.
Parent-Led WhatsApp
Our parent-led WhatsApp group
helps families stay connected, share updates, and arrange playdates with one another.
Open Door Policy
We have an open-door policy,
meaning you are always welcome to speak with a member of our team about any questions, concerns or updates regarding your child.
Home Visits
Before your child starts with us,
we carry out a home visit to get
to know your child and family in a
familiar setting, helping to build
strong relationships and support a smooth transition into nursery life.
Tech-free Setting
While we use technology to support communication with families, we are proud to be a tech-free setting for the children.
Our staff may use an iPad to upload photos and updates to Ovivo, but we do not complete daily observations,
as we want our team to remain fully present and engaged with the children rather than focused on screens. Instead, we provide:
A Weekly Newsletter
with photo uploads
sent out to parents
Twice-termly Stay & Play Sessions
for parents to join
in nursery life
Once-termly Parent Consultations
to discuss your child’s
progress and next steps
